The trust check

Six things worth knowing before someone waxes you.

Booking a stranger for something this personal takes trust. So every spot gets the same simple check of what you can verify for yourself — not a rating, not an ad. Unknowns stay unknown.

  1. 01

    It’s a real place

Sourced from the studio’s own website or booking page, with a street address. Service-area marketing pages don’t count.

  2. 02

    You can see inside

Photos of the actual room and work — labeled and credited. Never AI-generated, never scraped from a map.

  3. 03

    No price games

Prices from the studio’s own menu, linked, with the date we checked. If they don’t publish prices, we say so.

  4. 04

    Reviews you can verify

We link the review pages so you can read them yourself. We never invent, average or “adjust” ratings.

  5. 05

    You can see their work

Their Instagram, so you can judge the brows, the lashes and the vibe before you go.

  6. 06

    They’re open when you are

Published hours in LA time, with an open-now filter for the night-before panic.

FIRST TIME? TOTALLY NORMAL.

Your first wax,
minus the nerves.

Everyone has a first time. The best estheticians have seen it all and genuinely don’t judge. Here’s what to ask before you book, so you walk in knowing what to expect.

  1. Hard or soft wax?Hard wax is often used for sensitive areas. Ask what they use for your treatment.
  2. A fresh applicator every dip?“No double-dipping” is a fair thing to ask about. Good studios are happy to explain their hygiene routine.
  3. What does the price include?Check the service variant, add-ons and whether a first visit costs more.
  4. How should I prep?Ask about hair length and anything to avoid beforehand, like certain skincare or sun exposure.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Finding a spot
you can trust.

Straight answers about how Smooth Spots works and what to check before you book. How we source our listings ↗

How do I find a trustworthy waxing salon in Los Angeles?
Look for things you can check yourself before you book: a physical address and official website, photos of the actual room, menu prices the studio publishes, review pages you can read on the original platform, and an Instagram account that shows their work. Smooth Spots lists 231 waxing, sugaring, laser, brow and lash studios across 42 LA neighborhoods and shows which of these details we could confirm for each one, with links to the sources and the date we checked them.
What is the Smooth Spots trust check?
It is a six-point checklist on every studio profile: a real, sourced location; photos of the space or the work; published prices; review sources you can verify; a linked social profile; and published opening hours. It is not a rating. A missing item means we could not confirm it from a public source, not that the studio is bad.
Does Smooth Spots rate or rank studios?
We never give studios our own star ratings. By default, studios are sorted by how many trust-check details we could confirm. Some owner-verified studios are Featured through a partnership with Winback Engine, the company behind Smooth Spots; Featured studios are always labeled and can appear first, but Featured never changes a studio’s trust check, prices or reviews. Where we show a review score, it is a dated snapshot from the named platform with a link to the original, and scores from different platforms are never averaged.
How much does a Brazilian wax cost in Los Angeles?
Among the 60 studios on Smooth Spots that publish a standard waxing or sugaring Brazilian price, the lowest listed price per studio ranges from $40 to $95, with a median of $69 and most between $65 and $75 (prices published by the studios, last checked 2026-10-26). First-visit pricing, men’s services, add-ons and laser packages are priced separately, so confirm the exact service with the studio.
What should I ask a studio before my first wax?
Hard or soft wax? Hard wax is often used for sensitive areas. Ask what they use for your treatment. A fresh applicator every dip? “No double-dipping” is a fair thing to ask about. Good studios are happy to explain their hygiene routine. What does the price include? Check the service variant, add-ons and whether a first visit costs more. How should I prep? Ask about hair length and anything to avoid beforehand, like certain skincare or sun exposure.
How do I compare laser hair removal prices?
Compare the same treatment area, and check whether a price covers one session or a package of sessions and whether it is a starting price. Smooth Spots keeps those details in each laser price label and links to the provider’s own menu. Follow the provider’s booking or consultation link to confirm current options.
Can I find a waxing or brow studio that is open now?
Yes. Use the “Open now” filter, which uses the hours each studio publishes, in Los Angeles time. Published hours do not guarantee an available appointment, and studios without published hours are marked “Confirm hours”.
Do I book through Smooth Spots?
No. Every profile links to the studio’s own booking page, website or phone number, so you book directly with the studio. Smooth Spots does not take bookings or charge booking fees.
My studio is missing or out of date. How do I fix it?
Owners can claim a free profile, and anyone can suggest a missing studio or a correction from the “For studios” page. Requests are reviewed against the studio’s official sources before anything changes on a public profile.
